Below is the solution to Indo-European Crossword Puzzle #1, from Vol. CVXLVII, No. 2 of this journal. The winner, whose name has been withheld at the request of her next of kin, beat out an extremely competitive field of entrants, including August Schleicher, Julius Pokorny, and Vitaly Shevoroshkin, the last of whom failed to follow instructions and kept putting proto-Nostratic etyma instead of proto-Indo-European ones.
